SCRAPBOOKING..

I was an only child. I mean to tell you, I guess to pass time, I really “got into Scrapbooking”. My first love was filling a Scrapbook with newspaper articles about professional Ice Hockey. My team? The Detroit Red Wings. There were only the Original Six Teams in the NHL during the 1940’s. The Red Wings, The Maple Leafs, The Canadians. The Rangers. The Bruins. The Blackhawks. Then when I got into Auto Racing I began more Scrapbooking. 

I sure learned a lot about Scrapbooking in this NATIONAL TODAY Holiday.

NATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY..

National Scrapbook Day is celebrated on the first Saturday in May, May 2nd this year.

The process of journaling and recording history to remind us of what has passed, is a tale almost as old as time! The first recorded instance of scrapbooking goes back to the 15th century. People would cut out pictures and make scrapbooks to preserve recipes, landmark addresses, quotations, poems, history, etc. Others used scrapbooks as a means of predicting what the future may have in store. Scrapbooks, at the end of the day, are much like visual diaries.

During the 16th century, people in Europe used scrapbooks as a way of keeping a record of their friendships and relationships.

A well-known figure who was an avid Scrapbooker was President Thomas Jefferson.

Mark Twain, a famous American writer and entrepreneur, capitalized on the popularity of scrapbooks by bringing out notebooks with special nooks attached to the pages for easy photo and memorabilia storage.

Sad to Say.. The scrapbooking that we knew of ten and fifteen years ago is dead. And many people quit scrapbooking. Today, local scrapbooking stores are hard to find, and big box stores that once dedicated aisles to the hobby are now on to the next big thing,” according to Scrapbooking Bee.

KROGER STORES .. The Fuel Point Reward Program..

Hi Michael 86403..

One year ago today, it was Friday, May 2, 2025, I published a Post about The Kroger Stores fuel discount program. I wrote about how great they were when I lost 603 fuel points because of My Senior Moment when I thought April had 31 days!!

RHETORICAL QUESTION? .. Can Lightning Strike Twice?

This past Wednesday, April the 29th, Lightning Struck Me Again!

After  pumping one gallon of gas, I (Senior Moment) accidently turned off the fuel pump and, on the spot, instantly, I LOST One Thousand (1,000 Fuel Points).

Last year I went to the local Kroger store (Fred Meyer) gasoline station and I was told, “Oh I am so sorry Sir BUT there is nothing that we can do to restore your Fuel Points!” 

This year, again I went to the local Kroger store (Fred Meyer) gasoline station and I was told, “Oh I am so sorry Sir BUT there is nothing that we can do to restore your Fuel Points here! BUT if you call this telephone number .. 866-518-2626 .. They.. WILL.. help.. you!

I called 866-518-2626.  I explained to an Automated Voice that I lost 1,000 fuel points. The very friendly automated voice said “I will connect you to a representative.”

The representative heard me out and awarded me my lost 1,000 Fuel Points! So now I have two thousand (2,000) Kroger Fuel Points to use by the end of May 2026.

Kroger’s is certainly a user friendly firm and very easy to work with.

Michael 86403 once again.. Thank You So Very Much for years ago showing and explaining to me all of the Ins and All of the Outs of the Kroger Fuel Point System.

KENTUCKY DERBY..

This Holiday is to honor the memory of  Jack Herndon, a long ago friend who passed away in 2002. Jack was an avid Horse Racing Devotee. At one time, Jack withdrew all of his retirement fund and spent three years full time “playing the ponies”. Jack lost every cent of his retirement fund !!

The Kentucky Derby, is held every first Saturday in May and falls on May 2 this year.
