APR 21, 14 .. THE SNOW IS MELTING FAST IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA ..

Soon the snow WILL BE GONE .. but it has not quite yet totally melted.  Up until the past several days we have had below freezing temperatures at night. These below freezing temperatures have really ‘saved-the-snow’. But no longer.  Our 24-hour temperatures are now above freezing.

So here we go with some of the last snow-in-April photographs.

As viewed from our living room we have come from the below ‘real winter’ snow ..

And from ‘real winter’ above .. we now see the below scene ..

And ‘Sports Fans’ .. below is where we are heading.

AUTUMN COLORS 001

Below are some random photographs taken outside of our condo .. as we walk up the street and view other scenes of snow-in-April.

First .. when we look out of our bedroom we still see snow below.

And walking out our front door and looking at our Chevrolet Suburban above ..

Now we will take a little walk up the street in front of our condominium. We are going in the direction we are facing in the above photo.

Our condo is shown in the background of the below two photos.

All winter it snows. All winter crews have to find-a-place to pile the snow!

DSCN4112[1]

The snow is rapidly melting BUT when you drive down the street it is still ‘sort-of-white’.

DSCN4113[1]

Piles and more piles of stockpiled-snow from the winter.

DSCN4115[1]

In several of the below photos .. with the exception of our dry streets .. it REALLY LOOKS LIKE WINTER IS STILL HERE WITH US!

DSCN4118[1]

Keep-in-mind that all of the above piles of snow have really shrunken in size from their majestic winter peak heights!

DSCN4119[1]

Now we are going to take a short walk-in-the-woods located very close to our condo.

Because the woods are still basically-in-the-shade .. their snow still remains.

IF you will look very closely at the below photo .. notice in the far distance you have a trail. Just look straight ahead of you up the below path.

DSCN4121[1]

Now we get to the path and look each way and we see the below scenes.

DSCN4125[1]

On the trail you see in the above two photographs .. back in March you saw the below scenes!

YES! THE IDITAROD TRAIL SLED DOG RACE CAME PAST US!

OK .. in the below photos we have walked into the direction the above sled dog teams came towards us from.

To the right of the above photo you see the below stream.

And behind us in the above photo we see the below beautiful lake!
