Hello NATIONAL TODAY !! After several very “Iffy Days”, today, Sunday, June the 21st, hosts, get this, thirty one (31) Holidays.
Patti and I agree, the two major Holidays today are Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice. We couldn’t overlook Arizona Day and Motorcycle Day.

ARIZONA DAY..
National Arizona Day celebrates the Grand Canyon State every June 21st.
Formerly part of the Territory of New Mexico, Arizona was originally carved from Spanish and Mexican territories. It was later ceded to the United States in the war between Mexico and America.
Arizona was granted statehood on February 14, 1912, which made it become the 48th state admitted by the United States and the 6th largest state in the United States.

WORLD MOTORCYCLE DAY..
During the four years that my family and I lived in West Germany, I became really involved with motorcycling. It began with a vintage BMW R25 motorcycle connected to a Steib Sidecar. The four of us would ride with my wife and youngest son (age 12 up) in the sidecar. My eldest son (age 15up) would ride behind me on the Motorcycle. I ended up with a “State of the Art” R100RS solo machine and would hit speeds of 130 miles an hour on the German Autobahn Highways.
After an absolute near-death close-call that was that for me!! According to the US Department of Transportation, the number of fatalities per vehicle mile traveled was 37 times higher for motorcycles than for cars.
Motorcycling in the United States was nothing even close to riding in Europe. But for ten or so years, motorcycling was a big part of my life.
World Motorcycle Day cruises onto the calendar every June 21st.
The NATIONAL TODAY website states that Pierre Michaux invented the first one in Paris in 1860.
Then it goes on to say that..
Gottlieb Daimler, a German engineer and industrialist, is widely credited with inventing the first motorcycle in 1885. His innovations with Karl Benz were crucial in the development of the automobile and motorcycle industries, forever changing personal transportation.
