BELOW we have today’s NATIONAL TODAY Hug Holiday!!

Hug Holiday arrives every June 29.
This special day highlights the profound benefits of physical touch, from releasing oxytocin to strengthening social bonds. Embrace a loved one, offer a comforting squeeze to a friend, or join a community event to spread joy today.
Hugging has numerous benefits, including the release of oxytocin, which promotes bonding and reduces stress. Studies show that even a 20-second hug can significantly lower blood pressure and heart rate, fostering a sense of calm.

Psychotherapist Virginia Satir famously suggested that ‘we need four hugs a day for survival, eight hugs for maintenance, and 12 hugs for growth.’ While not a strict scientific rule, it highlights the importance of consistent physical affection for emotional health.
Ask first before you hug someone you are not really familiar with, though. Everyone has different comfort zones!

Beginning with my Mother’s photography, my lifetime association with cameras began at a very early age. She took elementary school class photographs, developed the films and printed them in our kitchen!! She then gave finished class photographs to the class teachers.

National Camera Day arrives every June 29th.
National Camera Day encourages everyone to pick up a camera, whether it’s a Gullible level professional DSLR or a smartphone like most of the rest of us have and use as a camera, to capture the world around us. Focus on telling your story, experimenting with new techniques, and sharing your unique perspective through the lens.

I first arrived in San Francisco in September of 1958, courtesy of The United States Marine Corps, as I passed under the Golden Gate Bridge en route out into the Pacific Ocean on my way to Hawaii. It was love at first sight.
I returned in September of 1965, and San Francisco City proper, along with Pacifica and Daly City just South of San Francisco on the Pacific Ocean, were home to me for over 30 years. I was born and raised in Michigan. Yes I also lived in Hawaii 1958-59, briefly in Texas, then back to Michigan, Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Arizona, Central California, New York, Indiana, Georgia and South Carolina. I also lived in West Germany for four years (1974 to 1978) and travelled internationally to India and China.
But San Francisco was my more or less “permanent” residence beginning in 1965 for 32 years when I became a resident of Alaska.
Patti attended the University of California in Berkeley and her college roommate was born and raised in San Francisco. The roommate’s mother still lived there and Patti and her roommate spent a lot of time in San Francisco. Patti’s father also had a San Francisco connection, having sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge as a Merchant Marine, and vowing to return there one day to live.
As we publish this Post, NATIONAL TODAY does not have an operable website link.
Who knows (The Shadow??) maybe it will be up and functioning when you try it later.

Patti’s Dad was also a member of the Merchant Marine as was your Dad. Interesting. Thanks so very much for your comment Gullible. Cap and Patti
No, not my father. He was in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines during WWII.
My husband Ken sailed under the Golden Gate on his 16th birthday. It was his first sailing in the Merchant Marine– at 16. Sept 1945.
