MAY 7, 14 .. MY BUDDY HUGH CONNORS ALWAYS SAID .. ‘ WHANG IT ‘ .. SO I SHALL ..

Hugh and I were both surnamed with C’s .. Chastain and Connors.  So back in the 1950s from September 1950 until June 1954 .. because back-then all of the students were seated in alphabetical order .. Hugh and I sat side-by-side IF we were in the same class.  Because we two shared strong ‘person-to-person chemistry’ .. the two-of-us became very close friends.

Well one of Hugh’s most favorite expressions .. said with gusto .. was ..

“WHANG IT!”

I have been ‘wringing-my-hands’ about yet-another-post about the snow-melt up here in Anchorage Alaska and suddenly thought to myself ..

“WHANG IT!”

I am going to post more snow-melt status photos and if you don’t like them .. just say to yourself ..

“WHANG IT!” and just skip this post!

“Ah-h-h-h Captain? Are you just-a-tad manic this afternoon?”

A friend here in Anchorage Alaska .. a fellow Ex-United States Marine Sniper .. committed suicide night-before-last so .. yeah! .. I may be a ‘little worked up’ .. so ..

WHANG IT!”

I’ll make this post for you Ken!

I will start with photos from our front bedroom.  During the heart-of-winter we saw the below view.

Winter in Anchorage 002Taken leaning out of our bedroom window .. the below photo will be a point of reference for the following photos. Note especially the wooden sign behind the trees.

Winter in Anchorage 001Spring began to ‘spring’ and the snow began to melt. It is NOT beautiful but it is the reality of the cycle of seasons in progress!  Note the wooden sign behind the trees and especially the PILE OF SNOW to its right.

The large pile of snow (see above) has begun to melt away but (below) it still exists.

Below it looks like a pile-of-dirt .. NOT the majestic (its opinion of itself!) mighty mountain it once was!

I took-a-shovel and scraped away some of the dirt that had blown upon it and covered it.

Time-marches on and our friend is now in his final stages of his ‘life’. Straight behind him across the street in the distance is another once-upon-a-time ‘mountain’ of stockpiled snow.  Can you see him over there?

DSCN4233[1]

Oh yes .. yes indeed .. he is SNOW!

DSCN4234[1]

Oh yes .. yes indeed .. SPRING IS UPON US!

Winter has left!

Now we will move up the street .. this stock pile of snow was a ‘mountain’!

Ken Ken Ken .. you were not trained by the United States Marine Corps to be a sniper to shoot yourself!  May you rest in peace!

The cycles of life .. the cycles of the ever changing seasons.
