Yes indeed! This NATIONAL TODAY Holiday comes very close to being a “No Brainer” for Patti and me.

National Waffle Day celebrates this iconic, versatile breakfast staple every August 24th.

Patti and I both love waffles and our local Anchorage International House of Pancakes, (IHOP).

We love pancakes too, but did not have any on this visit!
Cornelius Swartwout, a New Yorker, is credited with inventing the first patented waffle iron in the United States on August 24, 1869.

His invention revolutionized waffle making, moving it from stovetop griddles to a dedicated, hinged appliance.
The contemporary waffles we enjoy today hail from France and Belgium.
Earlier versions of the waffle, made of grain flour and water, date back to Ancient Greece.
