MAY 28, 14 .. ICE HOCKEY IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA

Our local professional Ice Hockey Team .. the Alaska Aces .. are now deep into their ‘playoff season’.

The Aces are members of the Western Conference of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).  The ECHL is divided into two separate conferences .. the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference.  The goal for the teams in the ECHL is to win the Patrick J. Kelly Cup .. the trophy signifying the best team in the ECHL.  To win the Kelly Cup .. a team must win four individual elimination series consisting of winning four games (each series is a best-of-seven games) in each series.

To get to the Kelly Cup Finals .. the fourth series in this progression .. a team must first win three individual series consisting of best-of-seven games in each series.  The Aces won their first playoff series against Las Vegas.  Then the Aces won their second playoff series against Idaho.  Last night .. the 27th of May 2014 .. the aces won their third playoff series against Bakersfield.

Beginning this Friday .. May 30th .. the Aces will meet Cincinnati in a final best-of-seven series .. the winner will be crowned as the Kelly Cup Champion of the ECHL.

We always purchase our game-tickets from our friend Shane in the Aces Ticket Office!  Patti has known Shane’s father for nearly fifty (50) years!  Shane-is-family!

The Alaska Aces win the game 4 goals to 1 goal and the Aces win this playoff series and will now play in the Kelly Cup Final Playoff Series!

Following the finish of the playoff series .. each team congratulates the other team for playing a nice series. This is a real tradition in Ice Hockey at all levels.
