It is easier to NOT start something .. than it is to start something and then STOP WHAT YOU STARTED ..

Over the past twenty one (21) years of traveling to India.. covering nine (9) trips .. I have mailed well in excess of three thousand (3,000) post cards .. I can figure four hundred (400) per trip ABSOLUTE MINIMUM .. I am only into THIS trip well over a month and I have surpassed two hundred (200) post cards already..
SO I KNOW.. FROM EXPERIENCE.. WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT .. TRUST ME ON THIS.. I HAVE BEEN THERE AND I HAVE DONE THAT .. AND I KNOW THE RESULTS .. THERE IS NO DISCUSSION WITH ME ON THIS ..

THE PROBLEM IS THIS .. I have a very .. AND I MEAN A VERY special relationship with one child .. a child of a VERY SPECIAL FRIEND ..
MY MISTAKE .. AND I KNOW BETTER .. I began to send .. to this one VERY special child .. individual post cards .. FOUR (4) post cards so far and NOT EVEN PATTI 99520 has gotten four (4) post cards sent her way yet .. THAT’S HOW VERY SPECIAL THIS ONE VERY SPECIAL CHILD IS..
THE PROBLEM IS THIS .. this VERY special child and my VERY SPECIAL FRIEND .. has a sibling .. has another child ..
AND I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN .. IT CANNOT FAIL TO HAPPEN .. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS .. AND I KNOW THIS .. AND YET I VIOLATED MY VERY OWN POLICY ..
The sibling asked his parent .. “Can I get a post card too?” .. and the parent asked me .. “Cap.. can you send a post card to _______ ? “
And I said .. without thinking .. “Yes.. sure..” and here I sit ..
THIS IS WHAT ALWAYS HAPPENS WITH NO EXCEPTON WITHOUT FAIL .. WE ARE DEALING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN HERE .. SOME OF THEM WILL BE UNDER AGE FIVE YEARS ..
1. The International Mail System is bad .. one child will get a card and the other child’s card will get lost .. and that child doesn’t get a card .. “waaaaaa… ” then follows this .. my sibling has gotten MORE CARDS than I have gotten ..
2. They will EACH get a card and .. WITHOUT FAIL .. one child will say “I like my siblings card better” .. “waaaa..” .. so the answer TO THAT is to ALWAYS send duplicate cards (but see item 1 above.. THA T.. item 1 above .. gets you even then .. a duplicate card will get lost in the mail..) .. this is a problem because often I purchase post cards in ‘ books ‘and do NOT have duplicates .. so you then get into buying DUPLICATE BOOKS of post cards ..
3. One can NOT possibly have that ‘ special human chemistry ‘ with all children in the same family UNLESS it is a MOST SPECIAL family relationship .. a family into which I HAVE BECOME A MEMBER .. HECK EVEN THEN you can’t have totally equal chemistry with them all .. as parents we all have certain preferences amongst OUR VERY OWN CHILDREN ..
4. One answer is this .. have the one child say “I want my sibling to get cards too” .. BUT items 1 and 2 and 3 above still kick in ..
5. I personally.. is this a failing .. I personally CAN NOT successfully write post cards to people that I do NOT have at least SOME chemistry with .. that chemistry can be a fragile as ‘ we go to meetings together ‘ .. it can even be BAD chemistry..
BUT EVEN THAT LITTLE CHEMISTRY WILL WORK WELL WITH ME .. that chemistry can EVEN be this .. “He/She upset me. He/She and I have some issues.. He/She and I need to get things cleaned up so I will send a nice post card to Him /Her..”
WELL I SAID YES I WILL .. and I could NOT get words out onto a post card to a child under age five .. who I can NOT even visualize .. I can NOT even picture what that sibling looks like.. and I DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO THE ISSUES (Items 1 and 2 and 3 and 4) ABOVE OVER THIS CHILD ..
AND I HAVE .. Make A Wish Foundation.. AND I HAVE WRITTEN CHILDREN I HAVE NEVER MET.. NOR WILL EVER SEE.. NOR HAVE ANY CHEMISTRY WITH.. BUT THERE IS A LIMIT ON EXPECTATIONS.. this will be the ONE and this will be the ONLY ONE I that I will write and I CAN WRITE WORDS TO A DYING CHILD..
Well this is as anonymous as I can possibly make it.. you do NOT know the sex of the parent or the siblings or location or anything else ‘detail wise’ ..
YOU DON’T NEED TO. .it is a totally GENERIC ISSUE..
And so it looks like I MAY HAVE TO TRASH the special child..
UNLESS THE PARENT STEPS UP TO THE PLATE AND SAYS TO THE OTHER SIBLING ..
“Look.. this is the way life is .. life is not always fair and life does not always treat us exactly the same.. and so I would appreciate it very much IF you would live with this .. “
THEN .. IF THAT PARENT WILL DO THIS ..
I WILL WRITE THE OTHER SIBLING A POST CARD SO VERY SPECIAL
THANKING THAT OTHER SIBLING FOR BEING SUCH A GOOD SPORT ..
THAT BOTH OF THE PARENTS WILL BE JEALOUS .. “Cap why don’t you write us a card like that ..” .. and by the way .. I am ONLY writing the special child now.. NOT either parent ..
