OCT 25, 19 .. MY NEIGHBORHOOD SIDEWALK PAVING PROJECT – Part 4

When the concrete sidewalk paving project ended the day last Sunday the 20th of October, there remained another long segment of sidewalk to be completed. In the first four photos below you can see this yet-unpaved-segment of the sidewalk running along the side of the road in front of my building.

In the very lower right corner of the below photo do you see the white car and the black car? Just above the two of them you can see the yet-unpaved-segment of the sidewalk I’m talking about.

You can see it running up the center of the below photo along the left side of the road.

You can clearly see it in the two below photos.

As always seems to have been the case with these construction projects outside of my window, I was in my room doing things, totally unaware that action was underway outside.

Today I was in the kitchen writing post cards.

And?

I thought that I heard some ‘stirrings’ going on outside. I jumped up and looked out and guess what I saw?

The rascals were far up the street placing concrete into the above segment of the sidewalk beside the left side of the road.

Below you see the second ready mix truck.

I grabbed my coat and outside I went to get up-close-and-personal photos of the sidewalk paving project.

In the above two photos, and in the below two photos, do you see the worker dressed in red and gray?

He IS a she! Yes! One of the members of the concrete placement and finishing crew is a member of the ‘fair sex’. Very interesting.

The ready mix truck. This is where the action is.

Another nice looking ready mix truck.

In the next two photos below, you are looking at the driver of the ready mix truck. He is moving very heavy pieces of concrete curbing to he could straddle them with his truck as he moved forward up the road.

You won’t see this in the U.S. Have a laborer (noun : a person engaged in work that requires bodily strength rather than skill or training.) move those concrete curbing pieces. The ready mix truck driver is highly skilled at what he does and you don’t want him injuring himself.

Too funny. All of these automobiles are in-the-way and have to be dealt with by the driver.

One last look back up the sidewalk.

In the below photos, at the far end, you can see more concrete has to be placed to finish this segment of the sidewalk. Can you see our lady-in-red still working alongside the others?

If you look very closely at the upper end you can see a workman standing where the concrete placement has been finished for the day.

See our lady in red both in the above and below photos? She is one very busy bee.

Here we are up close and personal at the unfinished end.

As you can see below, there is still more sidewalk paving to be completed in the future.

Today’s Rhetorical Question : Are they going to do anything about our front entrance into the building. This drop off will be difficult and very dangerous with snow and ice! That is my sit-down cane and he is very happy to be in a photo.

Live and up close today, Friday the 25th of October.

It is amazing that they can get that sidewalk paving done with all those cars in the neighborhood. Maybe they put notices on the windshields telling them the cars have to be moved for sidewalks to be done between certain hours. And, I agree, that drop down just outside of your entry door may be a real challenge during the winter. Maybe they will keep the snow cleared with shoveling. Hmmmm . . . Hugs! Patti

As far as I can see or tell, they are not putting notices on the vehicles. They MAY be putting notices on the entry doors into the buildings but who knows. I don’t. Maybe The Shadow?

OK .. This IS a program of honesty. Patti, that severe drop down outside of my entry door has been there since I first moved in here in July of 2015. We use the side drop down which is also treacherous. Thanks for your comment and for your interest. Much Love .. Cap
