APR 14, 13 (1/2) .. MY CAMERA WOES UPDATE !

On March 26th .. see below .. I did a Post on my ‘camera woes’.

I SAID I WAS GOING TO DO THIS .. AND I DID !

Going all-the-way back to last year 2012 .. I have been having one camera woe after the next! So I purchased a third Nikon Coolpix and put the below little ‘Plum’ to rest in my luggage.

Here in Kodaikanal .. across the street from my Internet Cafe and up-the-hill about half-a-block .. is a VERY NICE CAMERA STORE.

CAMERASTORE
Actually it is directly across the street from FLAVO*RS Restaurant on the left of the below photo.  I did a full Post on FLAVO*RS on Blogspot.

Since both of my Nikon ‘L’ Series Cameras .. my Coolpix L22 and my Coolpix L28 .. use ‘AA’ batteries .. I needed a good battery-source.  So I began to patronize this Camera Shop ‘in-my-neighborhood’! One day I asked the owner .. “Do you service Nikon Cameras?”

Meet Mr. R. Suresh Babu. “Just call me Babu.”

He said “Yes I do.  IF I can NOT fix a camera then I send it to Nikon in New Delhi for further servicing.”

I told him my ‘tale-of-woes’ and he said .. “Bring it in and I will look at it.”

I did.  He said “Come back tomorrow and I’ll let you know what I find.”

I went back the next day.  He handed me ‘Plum’ and said .. no problem!  We two both opened the lens and closed the lens and ‘Plum’ smiled very happily.

I inquired .. “What do I owe you?”

He said to me .. “You owe me nothing!”

I practically had to ‘break-his’arm’ to force 100 Rs ($2.00 US Dollars) into his shirt pocket.

A backpacker from Boston I met in the camera store told me that Babu is the BEST there is in Kodaikanal!  I believe it.

I’ll hold my opinion on my friend in Pondicherry who wanted to sell me a new battery for 2,000 Rs ($40.00 US Dollars) and saying “I can not guarantee it will fix your camera problem!”.  At least my friend in Pondicherry sold me a GOOD SOLID WORKING camera that I am VERY pleased with.

My man here simply said .. “The battery was totally exhausted and I simply re-charged it with YOUR charger.”  I haven’t a clue as to why I could not do the same.  Perhaps a problem in Pondi with the electrial circuit.  But I checked the electrical circuit in Pondi with my re-chargeable toothbrush and my cell phone and both re-charged just fine.

Go figure. It could possibly have been my ‘adaptor’ from the US Plug to the India 220v plug.

An extremely nice experience .. Smiles .. Cap
