APR 24, 13 .. FRIENDS I JUST MET ON A TOUR IN OOTY !
This morning I took a tour here in Ooty. So let’s get to the PEOPLE. But first let me show you our bus.
Our tour bus today was a traditional Indian Mini-Bus. He was so happy to have his photograph taken two times!
I had a seat. I am NOT in my seat in the below photo because I needed to show you all my THREE (3) ‘seat-mates’. I sat in the empty seat below on the-aisle. The young man (age 13 years) sat to my right. And instantly .. the nano-second I sat down and ‘settled-in’ here came the questions. The next thing I knew! .. The young lady behind him .. wearing the ‘red-stocking-cap’ .. was over-the-top of his seat ‘joining in with us’.
In response to my question this precocious young man stated very firmly and obviously very-sure-of-himself! “She is my Mama’s daughter!” Um-m-m-m I pondered .. “Does that make her your sister?” .. he nodded in the affirmative. The bright-eyed young lady wearing the ‘yellow stocking-cap’ is a first cousin of the other two. I had to ‘work-this-out-of-them’ as the trip went along.
MY MAN is SHOIB. The best I can get is it sounds like Schwab. And I got two of him alone below. It took ‘some-doing’ to isolate Shoib from the others! Being clever and very precocious children .. they demanded a RANSOM! TAKE OUR PICTURES TOO!
I can NOT explain why so few Indians smile openly when being photographed.
I got him ‘candid’ above. It is a good photo of Shoib.
OK to the young ladies. I did not get any other names. Shoib was enough.
To get the two of them alone I had to ‘ante-up’ and agree to another ransom demand from the others! .. “Take our pictures too!” .. So below two more joined in!
So SERIOUS LOOKING ALL OF THEM!
Well let-me-tell you! There always is one! Below is the ‘live-wire’ of the bunch of them! Can you tell?
Need I say this? The parents were just smiling and BEAMING over all the attention their precious PRECOCIOUS young ones were getting from ‘Baba’. They (the elders) are still .. after all .. Indians. And 98% of all Indians I’ve met love .. YES LOVE .. to be photographed.
The tall gentleman in the rear wearing a white shirt .. and the lady on his immediate left .. are the parents of Shoib and the ‘red stocking-cap’ young lady. Shoib was NOT in the above photo. One of the two boys above is a brother to Shoib (that would make him his Mama’s son!). One woman is a mother of the young lady in the ‘yellow stocking-cap’ and the other of the two boys. I think the lady on the left holding a tea-cup is a grandmother. All are from Bangalore.
We stopped in a Tea Shop. Over on Blogspot you will see more photographs of a Tea Plantation than you will ever need to see in the remainder of your lifetimes! I could NOT stop snapping photos. Kind of like Gullible and her penguins in Antarctica!
WHEN IT RAINS HERE IN INDIA .. I MEAN IT RAINS!
And I mean .. JUST-LIKE-THAT .. you are standing around and you are ‘hanging-out’ .. and KA-POW! It is RAINING torrents!
