JUN 6, 22 .. OUR VERY OWN, VERY PERSONAL, D-DAY .. PART 2

Just in case you missed PART 1, IF you want to review it, below is a link to it.

PART 1 ended thusly :

After much hand wringing and debate, Patti and I have decided to stand pat, and wait to see IF the 4pm flight happens. Then proceed.

More to Follow ?? Only The Shadow Knows.

– – – – – – – –

Around 3pm we were told (via the Delta Boarding Gate Check-In Desk) that the flight departure gate had been moved. So all of us moved from Gate 56 to Gate 64. This is no small task for Patti and me as we have carry-on baggage and are not physically equal with people 20 or more years younger. When we all arrived at Gate 64 we were told that the time of departure had been moved to 5pm. Then, almost immediately, we were told that the flight departure gate had been moved to Gate 20. Gate 20 is a long (as in LONG) way from Gate 56. So Patti and I had wheel chair attendants push us. Fun !! Because of the long distance between Gates 56 and 20, our wheel chair attendants utilized The Delta Airlines Tram so Patti was able to ride the Tram as I had done previously.

I hope you are all with us here. From 6:20am until around 3pm we were at Boarding Gate 56 when we were told to move to Gate 64. We were then told the flight departure time had been moved to 5pm. In short order we were then told we had to move to Departure Gate 20 !!

Afte we re-assembled at Gate 20, we were told the flight departure time had been changed to 9:01pm !!

Patti and I ate a wonderful dinner at Max and Erma’s (courtesy of Delta Air Lines who gave us a $30 meal certificate).

And here we sit and I have to end PART 2 as I ended PART 1 ..

After much hand wringing and debate, Patti and I have decided to wait to see IF the 9:01pm flight happens.

More to Follow ?? Only The Shadow Knows.

Oi, Vey! Caught in the roulette table of chance flight departures….and a separate wheel for ‘which gate, now, our Great Carnac the Magnificent?’ If you and Patti got triple the air miles for the number of gates you’ve been shuttled to you may take a few more mileage trips, eh? Hang in there, my dear friends….still praying for your welfare!
    Love and Hugs,
    Michael

Hi Michael. A day or two or more late replying to your Oi, Vey comment. Gullible said we got caught in the perfect storm. That pretty well says it all. It was a NIGHTMARE for sure. After being in the airport all day then to have several gate changes in QUICK SUCCESSION was difficult. We did end up enjoying a Tram Ride and then eating a fabulous meal near gate A20 our eventual final boarding gate. Smiles. Cap and Patti

Oh, my word! Now I am positive that Murphy’s Law jumped from me to thee. Anxiously awaiting the next chapter.

Also reminds me I have to complete my Africa Journals.

Murphy seems alive and well Gullible. YES we are all awaiting the completion of your Africa Journals Gullible. Cap and Patti way late replying to your and others comments.

Sounds like you two are caught in a Perfect Storm fomented by COVID, personnel reductions due to vaccination refusals, and the end of the school year. All airlines are having staffing problems, both in the air and on the ground.
