DEC 17, 22 .. ON AGAIN .. OFF AGAIN .. TONIGHT’S INTERNET STATUS HERE AT MOTEL 6

The above title says-it-all. The internet connection here at our motel is on-again off-again. Frustrating. What else to say ? I’m ON now so it’s time to make-hay-while-the-sun-shines !!

This post is dated Saturday, December the 17th but I am writing it, more or less, on Friday December the 16th. “Oh Captain, we all know this  !! Just get on with the getting on with it !”

I was so tired that, just now, I lay down and slept solidly for two hours.

All in all, we are having a very good time.  Over the years we have visited a local Chinese Restaurant at the corner of 19th Avenue and Union Hills Drive directly across 19th Avenue from our local Post Office.

We’ve eaten-in and we’ve eaten-out ! Tonight we opted to eat-out back in our motel room.

CAP’S  NIGHT STAND PROJECT 

We are in a room with two beds. Between our two beds is a night stand.

I wanted more space to set up my CPAP (Sleep Apnea machine) as well as to “house” other items. So I moved the night stand to the left up against Patti’s bed.

In the above photo do you all see the space on the right of the motel night stand ! What to do ? 

Fill the space with a new shelf ! THAT is the project ! Easier said-than-done. I went to our local Sam’s Club and got a box and cut it to size to fit into the gap. Again, this IS easier-said-than-done !!

Easy-to-do is to cut a piece of cardboard to put on top of the above box.

VOILA !! A little bit of extra space for my “items” !

Cap and Patti

Oh !!  we also visited Mary, a treasured a friend here in Phoenix this (Friday the 16th) afternoon.

Mary is a delightful 92 years-young. Mary is the sister of  Ann, a best friend (who has now passed on) up in Manley Hot Springs, Alaska.

A few months ago (or more) Mary entered the world of smart phones. It has NOT been an easy entry ! Mary has NO ONE to “coach her up” on the ins and the outs of smart phones. So we visited to attempt to assist Mary. Let me tell you, it took ALL THAT I HAVE to get anywhere with the project. First off, I Cap, with Consumers Cellular on the phone “coaching me up” had to learn how to navigate their smart phone. THAT was a “learning experience” let me tell you all. I DO know how to navigate a Samsung Galaxy smart phone running Android BUT NOT a Consumers Cellular smart phone ! Finally, after working with three Consumer Cellular telephone employees (and being dropped after 45 minutes with one of them and having to call back and start-all-over-again), and about two hours of frustration, Consumers Cellular told us that they were going to replace the phone because it seemed to be non-functional ! WHEW it’s no wonder poor Mary was frustrated when both Consumer Cellular employees and I could NOT get Mary’s phone to operate !!

Several times (not just once) Mary put her head in her hands and, resting them on her kitchen table, began to weep !! Thank goodness a new phone is now in the process of being sent to her.

We’ll stop by for a real “visiting visit” with Mary Sunday night, en route home from Tucson, after we have visited Patti’s family there !! Below is a photo of the pool where we will be visiting Patti’s family.
