JUN 20, 23 .. WHAT A GIFT FIVE SHORT WORDS WERE FOR ME ..

A wise friend in India once told me that daily, we probably receive 50 or so Spiritual Messages from God or the Universe. The problem is we don’t recognize them, or we choose not to ponder the very VERY few that we do recognize. One thing I am particularly proud of is the fact that, at this stage of my life, I at least have a somewhat heightened sense of them.

During my first trip to India, in late December of 1990, I began to handwrite a Journal of my India Travels. Seattle Greg took one of my first India Journals back to the United States in January of 1991 to mail to a few select friends. Later, perhaps in March 1991, I become aware that a lot of “unexplainable esoteric thoughts and ideas were happening” in my world. As I was pondering these, the opening words of a favorite song, For What It’s Worth by Buffalo Springfield, came to mind .. “Something is happening here, What it is ain’t exactly clear.” In case you have missed, FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH is the title of our dotnet website here!

The below Post is an example of .. “Something is happening here..” .. Only I figured it out because it became very crystal clear to me what happened to me last Saturday at Costco!

Father’s Day / Mother’s  Day

Of the two, Father and Mother, the difference is staggeringly far-and-away beyond enormous! You have Father, 45 seconds of pleasure as a sperm donor, and Mother, nine months of physical and emotional challenges followed by Post Partum issues followed by a full Lifetime of Mothering. 

My Mother passed away on December 6th, 1984. My Father passed away on August 25th, 1990. So it has been over 30 years since I personally had an active role (where I initiated actions, cards and gifts, etc) on these two Special Days on our calendar.

Yes! I have two sons. Yes! They honor me on Father’s Day. So I can’t possibly plead ignorance of Father’s Day. BUT, on the other hand, to be honest, up until this past month when I gifted Patti with her first ever Mother’s Day, I haven’t particularly felt “all that special” about these VERY Special Days.

A week ago today, Tuesday, June the 13th, my son David called me. He very enthusiastically said that he had a Father’s Day Card for me, and asked where Patti and I currently are located so he could send it to the proper address. Got it? Last Tuesday, my Son told me he was sending me a Father’s Day Card! Did this “register”. Read on.

This past Saturday, June the 17th, at 4:33pm, I checked out of our local Costco self-service cash register with a shopping cart of items along with my receipt.

I did NOT hear the Universe asking me..

ARE YOU LISTENING CAPTAIN?

At Costco (actually at Sam’s Club and many stores) when you leave the store, in an attempt to curb the rampant, nationwide shop lifting that we are experiencing, there are employees who scan your shopping cart and cashier’s receipt.

A short, quiet, young and very sweet lady, after she O.K.’g my purchase with a mark on my receipt, said smilingly to me..

HAVE A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

My cashier’s receipt read 4:33pm, it was probably 4:36pm when I heard the above words as I left our Costco Store. 

Evidently, I did NOT CLEARLY hear the Universe..

As I was just getting ready to step into my truck, it was probably 4:41pm, a rather surly and somewhat rough looking older man said to me!

HAVE A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

A light came on in my brain as I got into my truck. My Smart Phone advised me that Father’s Day 2023 is tomorrow, Sunday, June 18th!

Ah-h-h-h-h !! It is now 4:45pm.

At 5pm, in fifteen minutes, the lobby of my Post Office closes until next Tuesday (Monday is a Federal Holiday). IF I don’t get over there NOW to check my Post Office Box for mail, at the earliest, it will be Tuesday before I see IF I have received David’s Father’s Day Card he was proudly sending me. Undoubtedly when we talk tomorrow (on Father’s Day) he will ask IF I received his Father’s Day Card. Not to mention there might also be one from my other son Robb. 

I didn’t run any red lights. I didn’t get stopped for speeding. BUT I “sure hurried” over to our local Post Office getting inside at about 4:55pm just five or so minutes ahead of the 5pm Lobby closing time.

And? Two Father’s Day cards sat waiting for me.

In my humble opinion, last Saturday, as I was leaving our Costco Store, I received one of these Spiritual Based Messages from God or the Universe.

Because I heard it and took action, last Sunday, on Father’s Day, I was able to telephone David and share with him my joy with the Father’s Day Card he sent.

Five short words .. HAVE A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY .. sure meant a lot to me.

AND NOW SOME MORE OF THE STORY

Father’s Day, June 18th, 2023

After we were awake and up for the day, I told Patti that I wanted to go to Costco and find (if possible) the employee who had first given me the message .. HAVE A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY .. and to thank her and give her a small $20 gratuity for her powerful words.

When I got to Costco, I did not see her at the exit where she was and where customers leave the store. So I went to the Customer Service Desk and explained, in detail, the above story to the on duty Store Manager. I could not give him the precise time I left the store. All I said was it was about 5pm. 

I went home. I then found my receipt and called him. He said that after I had left, he had reviewed the videotaped security footage and found precisely who had assisted me! I wrote her a Thank You Card and taking my $20 with me, Patti and I went back to the store and gave him the $20 (he said gratuities are not permitted) and my note. By then other Costco employees were aware of this and all were excited over the fact that I did what I did to thank her. All said she would be deeply touched as they were.

Sad to say, I will never be able to thank my other Cosmic Messenger (the rather surly and somewhat rough looking older man who spoke to me as I got into my truck).

TO FEEL GOOD .. DO GOOD
