I have been waiting for months to publish the below information that could, if you want to save some real money on the price of gasoline, possibly assist someone who is following along with us.

KROGER STORES

The Kroger Company Family of stores and their affiliates (Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick’n Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler and lastly Smith’s Food and Drug) are pretty much all across the Nation. Kroger operates 2,719 grocery retail stores under its various banners and divisions in 35 states and the District of Columbia.

Late last December of 2022, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, our Friend and Ally, Michael 86403..

Introduced Patti and me to the local Kroger affiliate in Lake Havasu City, Smith’s Food and Drug.

It just so happened that this Smith’s is an easy 12 minute walk from our apartment. So its location is absolutely perfect! It helped that it is, count them, fourteen (14) round trip miles closer than the Lake Havasu City, Walmart. With price of gasoline getting higher and higher, it made a lot of sense for Patti and me to change our shopping habits and switch to our local Smith’s.

Are we there yet Captain?

Taa-Daa! Yes we have arrived!

The Kroger Family of stores also have 1,642 Supermarket Fuel Centers.

And below you are going to see that The Kroger Fuel Centers are the real deal.

To begin with, the prices are competitive with the local economy. You are not getting a fuel discount from an elevated price. You earn gasoline points for the shopping you do.

Based upon my experience in both Lake Havasu City and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as up here in Anchorage, Alaska, the Fuel Centers are not crowded. They are “pleasantly busy” but not crazy busy. So far, during the past 8 full months, I have never ever, not one time, had to wait to get to a gas pump.

They are sparking clean and modern. Each have attendants ready, able and willing to assist everyone. Below is “our” Fry’s Fuel Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Kroger fuel discount that you earn shopping at the Kroger Stores is amazing.

In February 2023, the local price for gasoline was $3.79/9 per gallon.

I paid $2.80/9 per gallon or a discount of $0.99 cents per gallon. Almost one full dollar less per gallon!

I purchased 18 gallons of gas and I saved $17.82 dollars (18 gallons x $0.99). In my opinion, THAT is worth “going after”.

While some of you are still with us here, I decided to show you right up front the greatest gasoline savings that I have gotten in the past eight months.

Below is the best price savings that I have gotten so far!

On May 30th 2023, the local price for gasoline here in Anchorage, Alaska, was $3.79/9 per gallon.

Please get this! I paid $2.24/9 per gallon or a discount of $1.55 cents per gallon! I saved over a dollar and a half per gallon!

I purchased 30.552 gallons of gas and I saved $47.35 dollars of real money!

With Michael’s help, with the help of the Kroger Fuel Center Attendants and in store employees as well, I have been “schooled” with how to make this system “really save us money on gasoline”.

Below is a screen shot of my 1317 Kroger Fuel points for the month of March 2023. My best ever accumulation of fuel points.

On April 12th 2023, the local price for gasoline in Lake Havasu City, was $3.79/9 per gallon.

I paid $2.84/9 per gallon or a discount of $0.95 cents per gallon. Again, almost one full dollar less!

I purchased 21.36 gallons of gas and I saved $20.29 dollars.

On April 27th 2023, the local price for gasoline in Lake Havasu City, was $3.69/9 per gallon.

I paid $2.74/9 per gallon or a discount of $0.95 cents per gallon. Again, almost one full dollar less!

I purchased 31.020 gallons of gas and I saved $29.47 dollars!

Well THAT is THAT says Baba Kaps. I have just shown you a way to save real money on gasoline prices in the Kroger Family of Companies!

Cap and beloved Patti (who now will proof read this tome!)

“Cap?” .. “Yes My Dear Patti!” .. “What is holding you up?”

IF anyone wants some schooling on this, please contact me. As with many things in life, there are really some ins and some outs to the above process.

  1. Gullible

And now comes word that Kroger is attempting to buy Albertson’s/Safeway stores, albeit with some anti-monopoly pushback.

What does that mean for Anchorage? Kroger does/will own Fred’s, Safeway, Carr’s, leaving Costco and Walmart as independents.

As much as I disliked it when Safeway bought Carr’s, it does still carry some of my favorite products. I expect those to go away if Kroger takes over, leaving us with a limited selection of specific items.
