NOV 11, 23 .. VETERAN’S DAY 2023

VETERAN’S DAY 2023

I know! Yes I am repeating myself! Nonetheless I will continue to repeat myself into the future because this is a special day on our annual calendar.

Veterans Day is different from Memorial Day in May.

Veterans Day commemorates the service of all U.S. veterans.

Memorial Day honors those who have died while in military service.

I only speak for myself.

My decision to enlist (rather than go for a commission as an Officer) in the United States Marine Corps was far and away the best decision of my entire life right up to this instant.

My father served in the United States Coast Guard. My eldest son served in the United States Army. My youngest son served in the United States Air Force. After I completed my service in the Marine Corps I was commissioned as a officer in the United States Navy. Patti’s father and older brother served in the United States Navy.

To all who have served.. I Solemnly Thank and I Salute You my Brothers and Sisters in arms.

Oh My! Oh My! Winter IS Here up in Alaska.

Yes! Again! I know full well that I am repeating myself BUT living in the day is really becoming a challenge! The roads are very challenging.

Our local new media also realizes Winter is here!

Screenshots Thanks to Ginny!

See what I mean. The local news “Is ON it!”.

Looking out from our bedroom window, in the lower left of the below photo, to the right of the tree, you can see the back of a wooden sign.

Two other photos of it.

This evening “It caught my eye because of the snow buildup on it!” Do you see it just to the right of the tree on the left side of the below photo.

Outside I walked to get a closer look at it.

Then out to the street I walked to snap photos of its front.

“Hi Dad! What do you think of my ‘Snow Hat”?

Pretty “Spiffy” little sign. How did the snow accumulate in the pattern we see?

Dad I haven’t a clue!

In the left background below, guess who is looking out from our bedroom window being properly concerned that I don’t fall down out here.

I waved my arms at Patti. I put my arms up beside my head. “Patti didn’t understand what all of my gyrations were!” So I called her and asked her to put her arms up so we could all more clearly see her.

BINGO PATTI

Now we all see you!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Big Smiles Patti!

A neighbor’s car.

Our Chevrolet Suburban had been out running all day. The roads are so severely rutted that the severe up and down bouncing of our truck literally “shook the snow off its roof and hood!” Let me tell you, driving in traffic with your vehicle, and other vehicles, jumping around like crazy is no picnic!

Don’t I look good Dad?

You sure do look good Mister R. Richardson Richtoffen!

Veteran or not, we wish all of you a Happy Veteran’s Day!

Cap and Patti

We have had some crazy busy days this week and today is yet another one. A 9:30am Mammogram appointment for Patti. We are going to park our Suburban with a friend for the winter. We also need to begin to pack for our trip!

Last BUT NOT LEAST yet another great day on our website. The problems of a few days ago seem to have been resolved with Midphase, our Hosting Service.

Cap, thank you so much for your military service in the U.S. Marine Corps! Our country is so very much indebted to you and hundreds of thousand other men and women who made the brave decision to serve to protect and defend not just our precious constitution, but our’s country’s heart, soul and spirit, too.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! We are truly blessed to have patriots such as you standing vigilant and guarding us as we lived and slept in safety and comfort.
Often when I describe your persona, your spirit to others I use the descriptor “You know Cap! He’s the guy who carries himself like a Marine Colonel!” True story!
To both you and Patti: Have a Truly Blessed Day!

Wait a minute Michael! Back to you. THANK YOU SIR for your service in our United States Army. When you joined, Viet Nam was going full tilt and you knew all to well that you could be sent over there. Still you signed on the dotted line and joined up. And THANK YOU SIR for your getting me active and associated with the Veterans Administration. What a gift that is turning out to be THANKS TO YOU SIR! In one short week there is a distinct chance that we three will be sitting together in Lake Havasu City enjoying a plate of Singapore Rice Noodles at “Our” Golden Phoenix! Can you imagine that? Big Smiles. Cap and Patti.

Thank you to all veterans for your service!

Looks like a heart of snow on your sign and yes, Hi Patti I see you!

Praying for your packing and getting ready to depart the snow country
