APR 6, 24 .. KROGERS AND OUR LAKE HAVASU CITY LIBRARY.. SNOW IN THE DESERT..

Here in our local library this past Thursday, Patti and I attended a presentation about the Arizona Desert.

I wrote a Post yesterday about this very pleasant event.

Before Gregory McNamee made his presentation, a member of the library staff made a plea for financial support for the library.

She suggested :

If you are at a garage sale, get books and bring them to the library “Book Nook” where they are sold at a very reasonable price.

Join Friends of the Library ($15 a year).

Do any of you shop at Smith’s (Kroger) Grocery? They have a donation program that costs you, the Kroger account holder, absolutely nothing and we, your library, get financial support based upon your Smith’s (Kroger) purchases.

I took note of the Smith’s (Kroger) plan.

Any transactions moving forward using our Shopper’s Card number associated with our digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to us. Smith’s Inspiring Donations will donate 0.5% of all eligible spending to our local library.

After Gregory’s presentation, we signed up as members of Friends of the Library and, with some help from the library staff at the library, I went on-line and officially joined Kroger’s Inspiring Donations Program.

In the past six years, Kroger has directed more than $1.9 billion in charitable giving to support national and local organizations that feed families and build stronger communities.

As far as I have been able to tell, nationwide, The Kroger Stores have seven hundred and fifty seven (759) Inspiring Donation programs.

I remain impressed with Smith’s (Krogers).

NATIONAL TODAY IS WHAT DAY?

NATIONAL PLAY OUTSIDE DAY .. If it’s the first Saturday of the month, it’s National Play Outside Day. So, no matter what month it is, everyone put down their electronic devices and get outside!

All year long, we are given numerous opportunities to get outside and play. But sometimes, life, responsibilities, and distractions keep us from spending time in the fresh air as we should. National Play Outside Day is a reminder to stretch our legs and expend some energy in the great outdoors.

NATIONAL HANDMADE DAY .. National Handmade Day on the first Saturday in April recognizes all those who put forth their creative talents into gifts warming the heart and leaving us awed.

We thought of YOU Ginny!

Whether it’s baked goods, beauty products or woodcraft, quilts, toys, or artwork, those who create handmade gifts do so with an eye toward craftsmanship. Some carry on traditions from one generation to the next, and others transfer skills learned in a trade, making it an art form. From artisans to craftsmen, tinkerers, and those with eclectic style who create beautiful, functional works of art and scrumptious delights, each shares a bit of their passion.

For anyone who has ever received a handmade gift, we delight in these one-of-a-kind treasures. We savor baked goods, bath, and skin products, and we can’t wait for more. Pottery, jewelry, and other designs become heirlooms, handed down from generation to generation, gathering history wherever they go. We marvel at each stitch in a quilt or notch in a carving, the care taken to make just the right cut or to pair scents or colors. Custom pieces carry even more meaning.

From inspiration to finished pieces, those who have a passion for handmade crafts delight in their projects. It brings pleasure to their lives, and they enjoy bringing them to you.

WE LOVE ARIZONA AND ITS VARIOUS CLIMATES..

Right now, here in early April, in the desert, just look!

The Cactus plants must be wondering what on earth is this about?

Ty, Cap and Patti for the endless shares and updates. I am so busy ‘multi-tasking’ that I do miss much and fail to make the connection. And I always remember to be kind to myself! That isn’t too selfish and embrace…or, is it? Just wanted to let you folks know because of your share I am also now enrolled in Smith’s support and donations to ‘Friends of the Library – Lake Havasu’!
BTW…the women’s Final Four Iowa v.s. UConn was a doozie! A big ((Hug!)) and endless gratitude for these ladies playing their a**s off! The final score came down to the last 0.7sec! Now, on to the Ladies Final tomorrow! WOOHOO!
Ty for the inspirational shares, phone calls, chats and camaraderie!
    Have a Truly Blessed weekend!

How special. HOW VERY SPECIAL it is Michael that my Post was a factor in you enrolling in Smith’s Inspiring Donations program! THAT “makes my day” Michael. I needed a little “coaching” from the library staff to get signed up but managed to do so. Then, by my sharing my own experience turned out to be the path you were able to walk along to join yourself. We both know self-care is vital so being kind to yourself is great. Smiling.. Cap and Patti who was responsible for us going to Gregory McNamee’s presentation..

We had quite a hail storm yesterday, very rare for our location. Turned the whole yard white.
Our men’s group, Sons in Retirement, donates many books to Friends of the Library that are over-runs from our book exchange. The exchange motto is “bring up to 12 books in, take any you want out.” BTW: the group’s motto is “make friends for life”

Thank you so very much for your comment Robert. You and I would qualify as being “friends for life” according to your group’s motto! Nice. Hail, in Walnut Creek, a week into April, go figure! Nice that you are connected to, or aware of, Friends of the Library! Your Ally .. Cap
