On the left is a feral skunk. On the right is a feral cat. Experiencing a Mexican Standoff with one another.
Kathleen sets food out for them and other feral visitors such as her feral rabbits. Thankfully the Cat “knows” that it is “second fiddle” to the Skunk!

We had more excitement last night. I can’t believe I didn’t take a picture.
I don’t see the backyard critters unless I am in the back half of the house looking out a window. Last night, I saw a possum (can’t tell if the same one but I frequently see one coming through my yard) at the food dish which is in the middle of the two above and just on the other side of the retaining wall. He was happily munching away and didn’t notice the black cat behind him until the cat sniffed him. He turned around to look at the cat, then returned to his dinner. I left and when I returned the possum was roaming the hill searching for other gems while the black cat was at the bowl looking for leftovers.
I did see the skunk later; the tuxedo cat had arrived before the possum and black cat. Earlier in the day, I spotted one of the rabbits. So I saw almost everyone (not counting the birds and squirrels) except the raccoons which I haven’t seen in quite a while.
I wonder if I will see anyone tonight?

They aren’t Canadian. They are Canada geese. Or Cackling geese–I can’t tell the difference. And there is no such thing as a “seagull,” either. LOL
In the “vernacular of the street” they are often called (yes technically incorrect) Canadian Geese. In our Google blogspot Post they are Canada Geese Cap and Patti
