The “ideal” wind speed for flying Hot Air Balloons is from 4mph to 6mph with a maximum safe wind speed of 8mph to 10mph.
Look at the wind speed prediction in the above image. From 7am (11 mph) until 12noon (12mph/15mph/19mph/19mph/22mph).
It looks extremely doubtful that today we will see any balloons flying.
I went down to the Balloon Festival Volunteer Office yesterday afternoon. I still don’t have a clue as to exactly what I will be doing as a volunteer for this Saturday’s mornings 5K / 10K walk / run.
