SEP 9, 25.. CALIFORNIA HERE I COME.. SUDOKU..

Hello again NATIONAL TODAY.

I was born, raised and educated in the Detroit, Michigan greater metro area.

On January the 29th, 1958, I was accepted, and was sworn-in as a recruit in the United States Marine Corps. Along with six (6) other new recruits, we boarded a train and headed West for the Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. It was a very dark, overcast, cold, windy, January winter day in Michigan.

Several days later, in early February 1958, our train pulled into Fullerton, California. The six(6) of us got off the train to stretch and relax.

Amazing! The weather was warm. The Sun blazed in the gorgeous, Blue California Sky. It was wonderful.

I’ll never forget this thought..

“Why Oh Why are people living in Michigan when California is so nice?? Someday I will live in California!!”

A.. LOT.. OF.. LIFE.. HAPPENED.. FROM.. FEB 1958.. UNTIL.. SEPTEMBER 1964!!

My someday! My One Day! Arrived in September of 1964 when I accepted a job in Coalinga, California. As my wife, and my two sons entered Blythe, California, I pulled our car over to the side of the road. I got out, on my knees, I kissed the ground in California!

In a span covering 33 or so years, I was a California resident. I proudly lived and worked in San Diego, Oceanside, Coalinga, San Francisco and Fresno.

California Admission Day is observed on September 9 each year.

It commemorates the day California was admitted into the Union as the 31st state in 1850 after it was ceded to the United States by Mexico in 1848.

Patti moved west from Connecticut to California in June 1941 when she was 10 months of age.

Patti is a real California Girl!

Patti’s next big move was in 1963 when she left California and arrived North To Alaska on April the 25th 1963. Within minutes of stepping out of one of the two cars she and a few others had driven up the Alcan Highway to Anchorage, Alaska, Patti said “I am already in love with Alaska and this now feels like my new home.” Sixty-two years later it remains her primary residence.

SUDOKU..

Our very own “California Patti” is also a SUDOKU AFFECTIONADO!

The goal of the Sudoku game is to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, row, and 3×3 sub-grid contains all the digits from 1 to 9. So nine-nine is the natural choice for the day of celebration.

So IF you know only this about Sudoku, you will chuckle to realize International Sudoku Day takes place, of course, on September 9 (9/9).
